How WaxSeal team workspaces work

The WaxSeal app opens this page from Settings → Activate a team workspace. It explains who does what; it takes two minutes to read.

Three ways to use the app

1. Try it on your own device. Tap Try WaxSeal. No account and no code: the app hides a test message in a photo and opens it again on the same device, with real keys and real encryption. The personal demo makes 3 test seals, each lasting up to 24 hours, within 7 days, and only that device can open them. It exists so you can see how WaxSeal feels before involving anyone else.

2. Join your team. Sending to other people happens inside a team. If your organisation already uses WaxSeal, ask its WaxSeal admin for an invite — a QR code or a link. Open it on your device, confirm with Face ID or Touch ID, and the admin approves you with one tap. You do not need an activation code, and joining costs you nothing. If you were trying the personal demo, joining simply replaces it.

3. Set WaxSeal up for your organisation. One person does this once, for everyone. The organisation’s workspace is set up on the web — see WaxSeal for teams. When that is done, the person who set it up receives an activation code by e-mail (it is also shown on the confirmation page). In the app they open Settings → Activate a team workspace, type the organisation’s name and the code, and confirm with Face ID or Touch ID. That device becomes the workspace’s first admin.

Questions people ask

I was given a code. Where does it go? Settings → Activate a team workspace. If you already tried the personal demo on that device, the demo is upgraded in place — nothing to reset.

I don’t have a code. Do I need one? Almost certainly not. Only the person who sets the workspace up uses the code. Everyone else joins with an invite from an admin.

Who is my admin? Whoever activated the workspace, plus anyone they promoted. In the app, admins see an Organisation tab where they create invites, approve devices and revoke them.

How do more people become admins? An existing admin opens Organisation, picks the person’s device and makes it an admin. No new code is involved.

The code says it is invalid. Codes work once and expire 30 days after they are issued. Check for typing mistakes first; if it still fails, write to us and we will sort it out.

Can I move to a new phone? Keys never leave the device they were made on — that is the point. On a new phone, join again with a fresh invite and ask an admin to revoke the old device.

Is there a Windows or Android app? No. WaxSeal runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
